Utah Correctional Industries

Utah Correctional Industries (UCI) provides high-quality products designed and manufactured with you in mind.

UCI is the State of Utah's prison industries program. We offer numerous products and services at a cost savings to state agencies, local governments, and institutions of higher education. These products and services are the result of inmate labor and training in actual work circumstances. Under the direction of the Utah Department of Corrections UCI operates productive enterprises to benefit tax-supported entities that include all state agencies and political subdivisions.

The program is completely self-supported, and derives its revenues solely from the sales of its products and services. Not only do customers receive quality products when purchasing from UCI, customers are also supporting a cost-saving legislative program. Estimates indicate it would cost the Department of Corrections, thus the taxpayers, between $2.5 million and $3 million per year to provide general departmental supervision and programming for inmate workers. Additionally, inmates participating in the UCI program acquire valuable vocational skills under working conditions that prevail in private industry, preparing them for legitimate employment once they are released from prison.

UCI can furnish offices, conference rooms, waiting rooms, libraries or other work areas with quality industry seating and furnishing products. Labor-intensive services such as general construction, roofing, asbestos abatement and pavement crack sealing are offered as well. At UCI, you can also purchase clothing, mattresses, interior and exterior signage and a wide variety of printing services.
