Thomas E. Patterson
Executive Director
Tom Patterson was appointed Executive Director of the Utah Department of Corrections by Governor Jon M. Huntsman, Jr. on January 5, 2007.
Immediately prior to his appointment, Director Patterson served within the Governor's Office as the Executive Director of the Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice (CCJJ).
Director Patterson's public service career also includes time as Rush County Attorney (Kansas), Chief Administrative Law Judge and legal counsel for the Utah Department of Workforce Services and Director of the Utah Sentencing Commission.
He received his undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University and his juris doctorate degree from Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas.
Mike Haddon
Deputy Director of Administration
Mike Haddon became Deputy Director of Administration for the Utah Department of Corrections in January 2007. As such, Deputy Director Haddon is responsible for overseeing many areas of the Department, including the Division of Finance, Facilities/Administrative Services, Training, Recruiting and the Public Information Office.
Prior to his service with the Department of Corrections, Deputy Director Haddon served as a research analyst for the Utah Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice, director of research for the Utah Sentencing Commission, and director of research for the Utah Substance Abuse and Anti-Violence Coordinating Council.
Deputy Director Haddon received his undergraduate degree from Boise State University and a Master of Public Administration, with an emphasis on criminal justice administration, from the University of Utah.
Robyn Williams
Deputy Director of Operations
Robyn Williams joined the Utah Department of Corrections in January 1986. She is a certified peace officer and law enforcement officer and has worked in many areas of Department operations.
She was appointed Deputy Director of Operations in February 2007.
Angie Welling
Public Information Officer
Angie Welling joined the Utah Department of Corrections team in November 2007. Prior to her appointment, Welling was a reporter for nearly eight years at a major daily newspaper in Salt Lake City.
Welling graduated from Weber State University in Ogden, Utah, with a bachelor's degree in journalism and has a Master of Public Administration from the University of Utah.
