Lowell Clark - Director

Lowell Clark began his career with the Utah Department of Corrections in 1983 as a road crew driver at the Utah State Prison in Draper. He worked as a correctional officer and lieutenant at the Draper site, before moving to the newly opened Central Utah Correctional Facility in 1990. There, he moved up the ranks to captain before being appointed warden of the Gunnison prison in 2005. In April 2007, he was appointed Director of the Division of Institutional Operations, which oversees the management and operation of both state prisons, as well as the placement of state inmates in county jails. Director Clark has worked in virtually every area of the two state prisons, including housing and internal and external security. He has also been personally involved in the opening of every new housing unit at the Department over the past 26 years.
