UPDATE: Visitation and activities for inmates on Tier 3 of Wasatch B block will return to routine status on Wednesday. Thanks for your patience.
Visiting an Inmate
The Utah Department of Corrections encourages family and friends of inmates to visit them as their privilege level allows. Studies have shown that offenders who visit regularly with supporters have a markedly improved chance of success when they are eventually released back into the community. It is, however, important to review visitation regulations prior to attempting to meet with an offender, whether he or she is housed in Draper, Gunnison, or one of the county jails. You can find information about our regulations, as well as current visiting schedules, below.
Visiting Updates and Cautions
Please check back regularly to find out whether any special conditions apply to the facility you plan to visit. The conditions may change daily.
Caution: We do not allow visitors access if they answer 'yes' to any one or more of the following questions.
While the prison and its personnel do understand the inconvenience not being able to visit can cause, we appreciate your patience in maintaining public health and safety.
Utah State Prison (Draper) Visiting Schedules
CUCF (Gunnison) Visiting Schedules
Visitation at CUCF takes place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. No one will be admitted between 10:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. (noon), or after 3:30 p.m. The maximum number of visits allowed is three per four-day visiting block. No more than one two-hour visit per day is allowed.
An inmate's visiting list shall not exceed immediate family and five (5) non-immediate family visitors. For our definition of "immediate family," please refer to the Visitor Request Form. If you have a medical condition that may set off the metal detector, please be prepared to provide proof from your doctor detailing what parts of your body might set off the detector (e.g. hip or knee replacements). It is important to do this before your first visit to eliminate the possibility of being turned away.
Visiting Request Forms shall include:
The inmate or visitor may submit a completed visiting application to VCC or CUCF Visiting. Visitors may submit applications for themselves and for minors. Those who receive the visiting packet should complete the portion of the application marked "Visitor's Section." Visitors wishing to be notified of the approval or denial shall attach a self-addressed stamped envelope to their visiting application. The visitor shall mail the application, all documentation, the signed consent form, and any other supplemental information to the VCC or CUCF Visiting.
Visiting Documentation Form:
The visitor will attach the appropriate personnel documentation as described on the back of the application form, or as specified by visiting staff. All documentation should contain the inmate's clearly printed name and offender number.
All minor visitors, except spouses, shall be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. If the minor's parent or legal guardian is unable to escort the minor to visiting, the individual shall:
Minors will be automatically removed from an inmate's visiting list, without notification, on
their 18th birthday. It is that person's responsibility to submit an adult visiting application prior to the 18th birthday.
