The Salt Lake Day Reporting Center is located inside the offices of Salt Lake Adult Probation and Parole. The DRC is a non-residential treatment program in operation since October 1994 and administered by the Utah Department of Corrections to provide treatment services to the offender. It acts as an intermediate sanction and/or alternative event to incarceration for those offenders who have violated their probation and/or parole.
All classes and drug testing take place at this location. The DRC is accessible to offenders and agents Monday through Thursday and Saturday. Since most offenders are employed, groups are primarily scheduled during the evening hours.
Treatment services are contracted through a private provider, and an active participant can complete the regular program in three to four months. During treatment, the offender remains under the supervision of the probation/parole agent. The agent and DRC staff work together facilitating an immediate response to a concern or violation.
Present services offered at the Salt Lake Day Reporting Center include: Substance Abuse, Mental Health, Domestic Violence, Anger Management, Cognitive Restructuring, Parenting and assistance with GED completion.
Electronic Monitoring
If an offender is ordered to participate in electronic monitoring, that person is responsible to maintain their own home telephone service. This must be a standard residential line with no options or calling features attached.
Region Three also uses some equipment that operates through the Global Positioning System. The equipment requires no telephone line and is a single unit attached to the offender's ankle. This program is funded by a grant, and the offender must meet specific criteria to be a participant.
Pre-Sentence Interviews
Clients cannot call us for pre-sentence appointments. When the judge orders an offender to report to Adult Probation and Parole for a pre-sentence interview, the offender must come to the regional office at 36 W Fremont Ave. (1100 South), Salt Lake City. The offender must report in person and bring all the paperwork received from the court along with picture identification. We will take a copy of the paperwork, ask important questions for our database, and take the offender's picture. We will run criminal records while the offender is in the office, assign a pre-sentence investigator to the case and schedule an interview appointment.
Failure to report as directed by the court will result in a bench warrant being issued for the arrest of that person.
Fugitive Unit
Region Three's Fugitive Unit caseload consists of all parole fugitives and supervised court probation fugitives.
An offender becomes a fugitive when either the Board of Pardons and Parole or the court issues a warrant for that person.
The Fugitive Unit works closely with jails and law enforcement agencies all over the United States, the US Marshals Service and Utah Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice.
