Women requiring services such as substance abuse therapy and mental health therapy are screened through the Women's Treatment and Resource Center and/or the Assessment and Referral Service.
Additionally, OSCCC has teamed with various community/nonprofit, state/county, and faith-based agencies to develop a more well-rounded approach to the unique circumstances facing female offenders.
As a 24-hour/seven-day-a-week residential program, Orange Street residents receive around-the-clock support, are provided role models, mentors and crisis intervention, and are assisted with daily living challenges. This greatly increases their success when re-entering the community
Women's Treatment and Resource Center
The Women's Treatment and Resource Center (WTRC) is the first of it's kind in the state of Utah. The center offers a gender responsive, holistic approach to supervision and treatment, bringing in experts from various treatments, nonprofit, state, federal, and religious agencies to work on the barriers our female clients face. The WTRC fills a unique role, serving to find treatment, housing and domestic violence resources for many females inside and outside of Department of Corrections jurisdiction.
The W.T.R.C. has added four supervision agent's to the dynamic collaborative team. These agents supervise female-only caseloads, and were awarded a national grant to be a model throughout the country as to how to transition women out of prison. They are part of multi-disciplinary teams, using strength-based motivation techniques to encourage women to put a plan in place six months prior to their prison release. The team helps to coordinate resources from our partners in the Women's Summit (more than 65 state, federal, nonprofit and religious entities) to intentionally wrap services around the client and encourage her success.
These agents, and all of our partners on this project, are prepared to help women with housing barriers, transportation barriers, family reunification, domestic violence issues, past trauma and mental health needs. The client is a member of this team, directing her own future and making decisions that can teach her to be self sufficient and to find her inner resilient power.
