Tony J. Washington
Clinical Services Bureau Director
Executive Director Rollin Cook appointed Tony J. Washington in November 2015 as the correctional health services administrator for the Utah Department of Corrections' Clinical Services Bureau.
In this administrative position, Washington oversees provision of health care services to inmates at the Utah State Prison and the Central Utah Correctional Facility as well as State inmates in county jails. He also manages contracted services delivered within the prison system and ensures clinical services are in compliance with National Commission of Correctional Health Care standards.
Washington previously was vice president of operations at Intellegis, a healthcare company located in Murray that specializes in rehabilitation and support services for people with traumatic brain injuries. Prior to joining Intellegis, Washington worked for Learning Services Corp., which provides rehabilitation and care services to people with acquired brain injuries, and several other health care companies.
Washington has an MBA with an emphasis in health care administration from the Western Governor's University and a bachelor's degree in sociology from Weber State University. He is a certified brain injury specialist and serves as president of the Brain Injury Alliance of Utah. Washington is certified in the Mandt System, a comprehensive, integrated approach to preventing, de-escalating and intervening in situations where individuals pose a threat to themselves or others. He also is a certified Dale Carnegie trainer and facilitator.
