HOW TO VISIT

Learn

Start by learning how to apply to become a visitor, the policies and procedures around visiting, and how to schedule a visit.

Apply

Once you’re familiar with how visitation works, you can fill out an application via the online app or PDF/email.

Approval

The visitation team will review your application and send you an email once the application is approved and they are ready for you to schedule a visit.

Schedule

Use the Offender Search tool to find your loved one’s assigned housing unit–then check the schedule for that housing unit on the schedules page. Once you’ve found a time, you can submit a form to request a visit.

Visit!

The visitation team will send you an email confirming your selected visitation time has been approved. You’re now ready to visit at USCF or CUCF!

Let’s get started on your visitation journey, providing an opportunity for meaningful reunions and support during this challenging time.

Step By Step:

  1. Learn

    • This page is the central information page for visitation. Please visit the page, read the introduction, and then scroll down to the expanding sections at the bottom of the page. Expand each section to learn more about the highlighted topic.
  2. Apply

    • Once you’ve learned about the visiting policies and procedures, you can apply to become a visitor. There are two ways to apply:
      • Use the PDF Form here. You can print the form out and fill it in by hand, or you can fill the form out virtually on your computer/tablet/phone. Instructions for submitting the form are located on the bottom of the last page.
      • Use the online visiting application here. This is the newest and most efficient way to submit an application to become a visitor. Sometimes, however, this application experiences errors. If you experience an error, please tell us about it with the “Give Feedback” button on the side of the page so we can continue to improve your experience.
  3. Approval

    • The visitation team will review your submitted application, perform the necessary background and other checks, and reach out to you via email once their checks are complete.
  4. Scheduling

    • Once your application to become a visitor is approved, you are ready to schedule a visit.
      • Start this process by finding out where your family member or friend is housed by using the Offender Search Tool. If the tool is offline, you can also call our visitation hotline (801-522-7046) and request the information over the phone, or by email via uspscheduleavisit@utah.gov.
      • Once you know where the incarcerated individual is housed, you can visit the visitation schedules page, scroll down to find the housing unit you would like to schedule a visit for, and click on the “Schedule ____ visits” link for that housing unit.
      • Fill out the Google Form and submit it to request a visit.
  5. Visit!

    • Once the visitation team has reviewed your request for a visit, they will send you an email confirmation informing you that your visit is approved or denied and the reason why. You’re now ready to visit your friend or family member!
