Donated prison produce on display at Utah State Fair
Offenders who work in the Green Thumb Program at the Utah State Prison loaded 146 one-gallon containers of vegetables and 12 pumpkins onto a trailer Tuesday for delivery to the Utah State Fair. The donated produce, grown in the prison's gardens and greenhouses, will be used in the "Little Hands On The Farm" display. The interactive exhibit teaches children how food is grown.
Offenders participating in the Green Thumb Program learn greenhouse operations as well as gardening and landscaping skills.
