Officers help with letter-writing at Hidden Hollow Elementary

Written in crayon, the messages were simple: Thank you for helping us. You are hero! On some, there was just a bright, cranberry-red heart.

The letters written by schoolchildren at Hidden Hollow Elementary School in Eagle Mountain are now on their way to veterans and active-duty service men and women. The Utah Department of Corrections' education officers spent a morning at the school recently helping the children write or draw the perfect holiday messages.

"The teachers are still talking about it and the kids thought it was the coolest thing ever," said Lt. Jared Beers.

We do, too!
