Happy birthday, Dr. Seuss!
As part of NEA's Read Across America Day, which is held on March 2, a dozen Corrections employees visited Bella Vista Elementary School in Cottonwood Heights to share their favorite Seuss books with students.
Here's a sampling of who read what:
Programming Director Craig Burr had a copy of "Oh, the Places You'll Go!" and Lt. Tolai Pei went with "Hop on Pop" and "The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins."
Librarian Christie Jensen picked out "There's a Wocket in my Pocket!"
Corrections Specialist Ty Welch had the kids singing along to "Dr. Seuss's A B C," while Wendy Miller read aloud "One fish, Two fish, Red fish, Blue fish."
Lt. Jared Beers, who organized the community service project, selected "The Book with no Pictures" by B. J. Novak — not a Seuss book, but a fun read for the older students!
Office Specialist Charlene Burningham picked "I Can Read with my Eyes Shut!" and Debbie Chiquito, director of the ExCell program, chose the classic: "Green Eggs and Ham."
Great job to all and thanks for letting us participate, Bella Vista!
