Work on the new buildings at the Central Utah Correctional Facility is coming along nicely! We wanted to share these photos as a progress report.
Layton Construction began work on the project in March 2015 and we expect it will be completed in September. The project includes the 192-bed Monroe Facility, a new dog kennel with the capacity for up to 12 K9s and a new Intake/Transportation building.
Monroe will be the Department's first direct supervision facility — which means it is specifically designed to allow officers to supervise, work and interact directly with inmates on the unit on a daily basis. The new housing facility will employ 76 people, including 61 correctional officers, a significant boost to the local economy.
Stay tuned for more updates!
