May 6-12, 2018 is National Corrections Week. The Utah Department of Corrections joins correctional agencies across the country in recognizing the hard working men and women who serve as correctional professionals.
In 1984, President Reagan declared the first proclamation for National Correctional Officers' week, in which he called upon the country to recognize the contributions of correctional employees. President Reagan was the first president to formally recognize the great work of those in the corrections profession and the very difficult, and at times dangerous, nature of corrections work. We take time this week to congratulate our brothers and sisters in the corrections field for their dedication and service in supporting public safety.
This year's national theme is unity. Here's a message on the theme from our executive director, Rollin Cook: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CxGhGj_RYDg&feature=youtu.be
