Inmate escapes from Beaver Co. Jail, Apprehended Shortly Thereafter

The Utah Department of Corrections (UDC) was notified state inmate Michael Vieyra had escaped from the Beaver County Jail and was apprehended shortly thereafter on the evening of November 17, 2018, the same day.

A review is being conducted by Beaver County and the Utah Department of Corrections. UDC conducts regular inspections of all county jails with which it contracts and has confidence in the management of these jails.

More details will follow as both the UDC and the Beaver County Sheriff's Office review the incident.

Vieyra has been incarcerated since April 2018 for convictions of third-degree charges of burglary of a dwelling and misdemeanor charges of possession of a dangerous weapon.
