Richard Piatt

Richard Piatt was appointed Director of Communications and Government Relations in November, 2025, bringing a varied and diverse background to the role.
His extensive experience in communications includes a unique mix of broadcasting, political law enforcement and government, and exposed him to unique experiences that allow him to communicate with knowledge and clarity.
After graduating from Michigan State University, Piatt started his communications career as a journalist in 1986, working at television stations in the midwest in Idaho and Utah. He is best known for working for 20 years as a political reporter and anchor at KSL-TV.
Throughout his broadcast journalist career, Piatt gained recognition for clear communication and comprehensive and unbiased reporting, coupled with a distinctive voice. Notably, he served as a political reporter and anchor at KSL-TV, covering legislative matters and politics. Piatt’s journalistic efforts have been acknowledged with awards for political coverage and reporting on various events.
Transitioning from broadcasting to political communications, Piatt joined Congresswoman Mia Love’s team in Washington in 2015. He returned to Utah in 2019, as Director of Communications and Deputy Chief of Staff for the Utah Attorney General’s Office. After five years, he accepted a position as Utah County Government’s first Communications Manager.
Each experience has provided invaluable perspective when speaking about issues that are important to constituents and stakeholders.
