In front of a packed house in mens’ visiting at the Utah State Correctional Facility, dozens of incarcerated individuals received their degrees during a graduation ceremony Monday, May 19, for Davis Technical College.
This fiscal year, Davis Tech has 122 UDC graduates so far. By the end of the term, that will climb to about 135 graduates, according to Dan Powers, Director of Rehabilitative Programs for DTC.
“All programs have grads (Business, IT, Welding, CNC Machining, Introduction to Auto, Advanced Auto, Web and Graphic Design, Culinary Arts and Automation & Robotics),” said Powers. “The best news? We have 36 months of data that shows about 70 percent of grads have not come back to prison.”
In addition to hearing from class speakers, students and guests heard from State Sen. Kathleen Riebe and Randall Honey, Co-Chief for the Division of Reentry and Rehabilitation.
Congratulations to all the graduates!
