Adult Probation & Parole Director
Alex Garcia was named Adult Probation and Parole Director in November 2023. Garcia brings 20 years of law enforcement experience to his role at AP&P.
He joins the Utah Department of Corrections from the Department of Public Safety where he most recently served as deputy director of Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST). He started his career as a state trooper with Utah Highway Patrol, and also spent time with the State Bureau of Investigation and the Drug Enforcement Agency as a task force officer.
He is a Utah native, born and raised on the west side of Salt Lake County. He has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Utah.
