RANDALL HONEY

Division of Prison Operations Director

In November 2023, Randall Honey was appointed Director of Prison Operations, after serving as the Inmate Placement Program Director since January 2023.

Honey began his career with the Utah Department of Corrections in 2004 at the former Draper facility.  As an Officer, Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Captain, Honey worked in various areas, including men’s maximum security, men’s general population, transportation, and Security Threat Group Intelligence.  He was involved in the creation of the UDC MCIRT Team, the Last Chance Program for offenders on death row, and the planning and execution of the prison move from Draper to Salt Lake City.

In 2019, Honey moved to the Inmate Placement Program, overseeing the housing, programming, and standards of all UDC offenders in 20 county jails in Utah. While in the Inmate Placement Program, Honey was also directly involved in creating and ensuring the Correctional Standards of the prison facilities and jails.  He was then promoted to Deputy Warden in October of 2022.
